EINDHOVEN

Objective

This study examined the urban scale of the city of Eindhoven, Netherlands. We looked at the Strijp-S region specifically and how it changed over time during the industrial, the mid-shift, and the post-industrial periods. The city began to take shape because of Philips’ factories during the industrial period. Subsequently, it went through an economic downturn, and now flourishes in the present day as a city that is lit up by lights through its creative and knowledge economies.

Art Direction: We were inspired to form a subtle neon themed approach as the area was founded by the Philips lightbulb company and now captures international recognition as a bustling design hub. It was important to showcase the area’s roots but to also display the glimmer of light that revolutionized its development as old buildings were reused with new identities.
